"I'm Preparing to Move Out"
These activities and this coaching guidance are designed for someone planning a shift into new environments or roles beyond their current domain.
Naming What Comes With You
What we're doing:
Before stepping into a new chapter, it's vital to name what's worth carrying — and what needs to be let go.
This isn't a résumé review. It's an identity scan. You're about to take your values, skills, and influence into a new context. This activity helps you make that portable.
Identify Enduring Value
One practice, mindset, or project I helped create that still matters today is… (What has enduring value because of your contribution?)
Define What to Carry Forward
The part of that contribution that is mine to carry forward is… (What knowledge, approach, or principle do you want to keep applying?)
Choose What to Leave Behind
The part I'm choosing to leave behind, or no longer centre, is… (What pattern, role, or responsibility are you ready to release?)
Envision Future Application
If I brought this forward into a new space, it would look like… (Give one real example like a new industry, team, or function where this could translate.)
For Example:
Project
"I Co-designed an internal storytelling series for early-career Indigenous staff that shifted how leadership viewed 'potential.'"
What I'll carry
"The belief that story-based reflection is a legitimate leadership development tool."
What I'll release
"Needing to always be the one who translates between lived experience and organisational metrics."
Future translation
"Partnering with foundations or public sector groups to embed story-based evaluation into their leadership pipelines."
Wrap-Up Coaching Question:
What part of your leadership is ready to travel, and what story will it tell when it arrives?
Your Leadership Journey
What part of your leadership is ready to travel to new contexts?
Your Leadership Story
What story will your leadership tell when it arrives in a new environment?
New Horizons
How will your leadership principles navigate unfamiliar territories?
Why this matters
This is just one of the tools used in our full 60 - 90-minute session as part of our series of 6 sessions on internal recalibration. Alongside this, you'll also develop:
A narrative filter that helps you choose what work to say yes to
A professional statement that reflects your evolving identity
A synthesis tool that links past value with future contribution
These aren't journal prompts. They're targeted design tools helping you name what comes next and why it matters.
